Manda Rin appeared as a panelist on the BBC’s cult fave music quiz comedy show Never Mind The Buzzcocks last week! The show has aired in the UK but not yet in the US. Stay tuned and perhaps it will turn up online ;) Congrats Manda!
We are just constantly so proud of Gene Defcon. Last year, when southwestern pizza chain Mr. Gatti’s announced a pizza jingle contest, “Gene The Eagle” joined forces with Charlie The Unicorn and Doggie Drummer to compose a series of submissions. Although Mr. Gatti’s ultimately decided to go in a different direction, the guys kept rhyming and stepwritin the next cyphers until they had a whole album’s worth.

This sunday August 29th, 2010 Yacht will be performing at the Hollywood Bowl with Chromeo and the legendary Chemical Brothers. Backing him up will be a Vice Cooler (Hawnay Troof/XBXRX) curated drum-line featuring Jacob Cooper (Signals/Bark Bark Bark), Robert Barber (High Places), Butchy Fuego (Pit Er Pat/Boredoms), and Kyle Mabson (XBXRX, one million joke bands). The boys will also be joined by an all-girl choir and dance troupe as well as Bobby Birdman on Bass. Tickets seem to start at about $100 but for anyone interested they can purchase them here. PS The Chemical Brothers are going to rule.
In case you were wondering what Signals beatmaker and remix whiz Jacob Safari does when his band isn’t wrapping up a new Signals record with producer Brad Breeck of The Mae Shi, now you can. Jacob’s mix leans heavily towards a buffet of classic electronic favorites from The Chemical Brothers to Aphex Twin together with surprising chaotic additions from Converge (mixed with Mr. Oizo?!) and Atari Teenage Riot. The mixtape also features unreleased Signals tracks including a Junk Culture remix of “Silverfish” that will be included on the US digital release of Signals’ “Silverfish/What Dreams/Remixes” via Retard Disco & a Signals remix of Japanese pop-punk band Cubismo Grafico Five’s “Catcher In The Riot”, slated to appear on the band’s upcoming 7″.
